Yesterday afternoon at ten minutes to two o’clock, Mrs. Conrad Klopping passed away at her home eleven miles northeast of town, at the age of 81 years, 4 months and 29 days.
She had been seriously ill about four weeks with a complication of troubles which come with old age.
Mrs. Klopping left Germany and came to America with her husband in 1854. They resided in Freeport, Ill., two years and in 1856 removed to Iowa and settled in the northern part of the county, where their home was at the time of her death.
Besides her husband she is survived by three sons, A. C. Klopping of Toledo, Ohio, who arrived Sunday evening in time to be with his mother a few hours before her death, Conrad who has made his home on the old home farm with his parents, and H. W. Klopping, whose farm is a quarter of a mile from this home farm. It is at the son’s home that the funeral will be held on Thursday between nine and ten o’clock. Rev. John Helmus, formerly of this city, now pastor at the Mt. Pleasant church, will officiate. The interment will be in the Newton Cemetery. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, Tuesday, November 6, 1906, Page 4, Column 4
