The Kellogg Enterprise records the following in regard to the past life of John Axel Theodore Eriecksson, who was killed instantly last Monday by the Rock Island Flyer.
We know but little of his personal life, but what little we do know reveals some noble traits. Two addressed envelopes in his trunk, one to his father and one to his sister, shows that his affection for the loved ones across the deep had not been forgotten. On the 22nd of this month he wrote his last letter home. The records of his trunk show that he graduated at an early age and in nine out of thirteen studies he had received 100 per cent. In natural history, geometry and another study, 90 per cent. In singing his lowest grade, he received 80 per cent.
His parents are members of the Lutheran Church and the records show their son had been baptized and confirmed.
Mr. Eriecksson leaves a father and mother, and brother and sister, who reside at Trasa, Sweden, and who a little later, will receive the news of their son and brother’s death.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, conducted by Rev. W. L. Post, after which the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery north of town.
Coroner Robinson came down from Newton, Monday evening, and empanelled a jury, which returned a verdict of accidental death. ~ The Newton Daily News, Saturday, September 29, 1906, Page 1, Column 3
