DAVIS FUNERAL SERVICES HELD
Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock this afternoon at the Murdoch Funeral Home for John Davis, who died at his home on East Seventh Street North Saturday evening, after a short illness. Dr. R.L. Stuart of the M.E. church was in charge and burial was made in the Kellogg cemetery.
Mr. Davis was born in Zanesville, Ohio, Oct. 5, 1860 and had been a resident of Newton for many years. He was formerly a rural mail carrier here. He was married to Miss Almeda Morgan, Dec. 16, 1904. Mrs. Davis died in 1921.
Surviving Mr. Davis are three brothers Clinton, William and Fred Davis. A brother Jack, and a sister, Mrs. Hattie Rommell preceded him in death.
(NOTE: Obit says his wife died in 1921 which is an error. She died in 1920)
