This morning came the sad tidings of the death of Harry Weirick, the youngest son of Dr. and Mrs. H. A. Weirick, now of Colfax, formerly of Newton.
Harry Weirick was born March 28, 1895, in Colfax, Iowa, came to Newton with his parents where he spent four years of his young life, endearing himself to all who knew him. He attended the West School, entering the Central School last year. Almost four months ago little Harry’s health began to fail, diabetes being the fatal malady. Five weeks ago his parents took him to Colfax, where his father had purchased a drug business, with the intention of removing his family in a short time.
In the city of his birth at the home of Mr. Joe Stayner, this morning just as a new day was being born, surrounded by his surviving relatives, his young life went out. Harry was a bright lovable little fellow, and his death is a blow to his parents and one brother who are left to mourn his loss.
Funeral services will be held at the home of Mr. J. M. Stayner Tuesday afternoon at 3:30, interment will be in the Colfax Cemetery. ~ The Newton Daily News, Monday, July 9, 1906, Page 1, Column 2
