Services For Paul Jones Held Dec. 29
Funeral services for Paul Jones, 85, a lifelong resident of Colfax and Colfax city clerk for 20 years, were held Monday, Dec. 29, at the Howard Street Christian church in Colfax.
The Rev. John McKinstry, pastor of the church, conducted services. Burial was in the Colfax Cemetery.
Casket bearers were James Jones, David Jones, Gary Jones, Craig Jones, Richard Hendee and Larry Shuey.
Mrs. David Edwards was the organist and Walter Williams was the soloist.
The flower committee was Mrs. Larry Shuey, Mrs. Eugene Yoakum and Mrs. Frank Annis.
Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax handled arrangements.
Mr. Jones died Friday at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.
Survivors are his wife, Mary; a son, Robert of Eagle, Pa.; a daughter, Mrs. George (Marjorie) Mullen of Guernsey; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two brothers, William Wren Jones of Long Beach, Calif., and Donald Mike Jones of Colfax; and two sisters, Mrs. Juanita Wilson of San Diego, Calif., and Mrs. Raymond (Eleanor) Zackary of Colfax.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a sister.
Mr. Jones, a Maytag Co. machinist for 22 years, had served on the Colfax Community School board for a number of years.
An Army veteran of World War I, he was a member of the Howard Street Christian Church, Colfax American Legion Post and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows in Newton.
The son of William Sherman and Laura Hedrick Jones, he was born April 2, 1895 in Mingo.
He was married to Mary McCracken June 1, 1921 in Colfax.
