This morning the remains of Harry Winter, whose death occurred at Des Moines, Thursday, were brought to this city for burial.
He was the son of the late J. H. Winter and formerly resided here, leaving for Des Moines about twelve years ago, where he followed the trade of painter and decorator.
His illness from kidney trouble dates back about three years, but it was only the last three weeks that the condition was considered serious. Three days before the end came he was removed from the home of a brother to Mercy Hospital.
During his illness everything was done that was possible to restore him to health and to make him comfortable. His sister, Mrs. J. H. McCabe of Chicago, was with him during the last days of his sickness.
The funeral was held from the Christian Church of which denomination he was a member, and the services were conducted by Rev. Breeden. Short services were held at the cemetery this morning by Rev. E. F. Leake, before the interment.
Those accompanying the body to Newton were his sisters, Mrs. J. H. McCabe of Chicago, Mrs. Rebecca Hamilton of Rome, Georgia, and his brothers, xxx Winter of Chicago and Fred and H. G. Winter of Des Moines. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, Thursday, May 3, 1906 , Page 1, Column 1
