The funeral of Simon Leo Hagedorn, whose death occurred after a week’s illness of appendicitis, last Friday evening, was held yesterday. The English service held at the home at 10 o’clock, was conducted by rev. W. Dieffenbach of the Lutheran Church of this city. The words of comfort for the bereaved was suggested by the text taken from Second Kings, fourth chapter and twenty-sixth verse, “Is it well with the child?” The following quartette, Mrs. Arthur Charlesworth, Miss Ethel Wilson, Messers. Bert Wilson and Archie Vieth, accompanied by Mrs. Fred Whittaker, furnished the music. The floral offerings were profuse and very beautiful. Following the services at the residence services were held at the German Evangelical Church, where Rev. F. Gadow officiated. Interment was in the cemetery near by.
Simon was the son of Christopher and Minnie Hagedorn and was born July 8, 1891. His age at the time of his death being 15 years, 8 months and 5 days. He leaves besides his parents, a brother, Roy, and sisters, Marie, Nellie and Pearl. ~ The Newton Daily News, Tuesday, April 17, 1906, Page 4, Column 2
