Death of John William Hughes
John William Hughes, who for some time lived in Colfax and for a time was at the Colfax Sanitarium for treatment passed away at Knoxville, Friday, Oct. 7th. He was of a kindly disposition and made many friends. He had been in poor health for some time.
He was the son of William and Catherine Hughes and was born August 24, 1841 at Waterloo, Mommonth Shire, England and passed away at Knoxville, Iowa, Friday, Oct. 7th at the age of 80 years, 1 month and 7 days.
In 1870 he was married but his wife lived only a few years and passed on. To this union were born two sons, both of which were killed while serving in the British army during the World War.
In 1865 he was married again and this wife passed away after a short time with him. To this union was born, a daughter who is now living in Cheyenne, Who. Besides this daughter he has five grandchildren at Cheyenne, Wyo., and four grandchildren in Wales.
Funeral services were held Sunday morning at 11 o’clock at the Colfax Baptist church with Rev. Albert Swanson officiating. Interment at Highland cemetery.
