MRS. ANNIE ASHING SUCCUMBS MONDAY; SERVICES TODAY

Mrs. Annie M. Ashing, 85, of 402 2nd, Ave., Grinnell, died Monday afternoon at a Marshalltown nursing home.

She had been in failing health the past three years. Funeral services were held this afternoon (Thursday) from the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Dowty, pastor of the Gilman Community church, officiating. Organ music was provided by Mrs. Esther Auman.

Pallbearers were Robert T. Ashby, Oliver Millgate, Lehrl Fritz, Jacob Krumm, James Hunter, and Adolph Krumm. Burial was in Bethel cemetery southwest of Grinnell.

She was born July 22nd, 1879, in the Netherlands, the daughter of William and Wilma Tiam. When she was about six years old, she came to this country with her family, and lived and attended school in the Bethel neighborhood.

She was later united in marriage with Ira Ashing.

Survivors include her two sons, Fred L. Ashing of Brooklyn and Lester E. Ashing of Gilman; four grandchildren, Fred Ashing, Jr., Myrtle Ashing, and Bill and Larry Ashing; and several nieces and nephews. Preceeding her in death were all of her sisters and brothers. When she was able, Mrs. Ashing attended the First Friends church of Grinnell.
