OBITUARY

DIED Of Dropsy, at 11:20 A.M. Sabbath March 17, 1878; CHARLES MELROSE, oldest son of B. F. and N. M. Arnold. Aged, 6 years, 10 months and 11days.

FAREWELL, DEAR CHARLIE! But little did we know of the meaning of these word until called to give up our darling boy. His life was so innocent, so cheerful and so peaceful that we can but wish him back to accomplish the joyful hopes of the future but this cannot be, he is happier up yonder! And Heaven, the home of our angel Charlie, seems so much nearer than before.

“O! It seemeth so mysterious that the father thought it best
Thus to rob me of my treasure, when the mansions of the best
Were all full to overflowing while around the mercy-seat,
Such a multitude of voices joined in praises low and sweet.

I must learn to live without thee but ‘tis only for a time;
I shall see, know thee, love thee in that fairer, purer, clime!
I will search among the angels till I find thy radiant brow.
And will fold thee to my bosom as I Long to clasp thee now.”
