Louise J. Ankeny, 79, of Park Centre of Newton died of respiratory disease Wednesday, Jan. 8, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. Memorial services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. First Lutheran Church, in Newton with the Rev. Matthew Martens officiating. Private family burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery. Reese Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements. Friends are invited to a luncheon following the service at the church, for a time of visitation with the family. Memorials win be accepted to First Lutheran Church.
The daughter of James C. and Mable Nelson Sorensen, she was born July 25, 1922, in Sioux City. She graduated from Sioux City High School and attended the University of Iowa. In March 1943, she married Gerald. E. Ankeny in Corpus Christy Texas. They moved to Newton 1954.
Mrs. Ankeny was a homemaker, a member of First Lutheran Church, TTT Chapter and Skiff Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed the outdoors and playing golf.
Survivors include three sons, Gerald E. (Jay) Ankeny of Tucson, Ariz., John R. of San Rafael Calif., James C. of San Antonio, Texas; a grandson, a great-grandson, two sisters, Dorothy Clark of Luana and Frances Henning of Atherton, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two Infant sons. ~ Newton Daily News, Newton, IA, January 20, 2002.
