Died in Redfield

Mr. and Mrs. David Birkenholz, of Killduff, have received word of the death of their nephew, Lowie Andreas at Redfield, S. D. The Journal Observer of that city says:

The announcement of the death of Lowie Andreas brought sadness to many hearts. He was in industrious and obliging young man, whose engaging qualities won him many friends.

The deceased was born near Killduff, Iowa, April 8, 1877. When he was one year old, the family moved to Des Moines, where they resided until Oct. 2, 1895, when they came to Redfield, S. D. About two weeks ago he was stricken with fever and was somewhat improved last Saturday when his condition changed for the worse, and he rapidly sank into unconsciousness, his soul taking its flight almost at the close of day Monday, Sept. 11.

Lowie Andreas was a genteel lad, kind, and generous to a fault. To his intimate associates he was always clever and true. His companionable qualities and general good nature made him popular with all who knew him. He was quiet and unassuming in manners but withal a genial companion when acquaintance ripened into friendship.

The funeral occurred today from the Congregational Church, and the interment was made in Green Lawn Cemetery. ~ The Newton Record Thursday, September 28, 1899
