Violet H. Aillaud Died Today, Rites Slated Saturday.

Mrs. William L. (Violet H.) Aillaud, 81 of 1103 Woodland Dr., a longtime resident of Newton, died this morning at Skiff Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Reese Chapel.

The Rev. William Sexton, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Sugar Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Reese Chapel after 10 a.m. Friday.

Memorial contributions to the First Presbyterian Church building fund will be accepted.

Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. William (Dorothy) Van Gorp and Mrs. Harold (Lenore) Skow, both of Newton; and a grandson, Martin Aillaud Young of Burlington.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Mrs. Aillaud was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Newton Camera Club and a former member of Palo Alto Grange.

Mrs. Aillaud, who with her husband farmed southwest of Newton until 1936 when they moved to Newton, had been a receptionist for Dr. R.F. Frech from 1947 to 1964 and for Dr. E. A. McMurray until retiring in 1968.

The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Wilson, she was born July 3, 1897 in Missouri and was a 1917 graduate of Newton Community High School.

She was married to William L. Aillaud Nov. 13, 1917 in Des Moines.

During most of her years in Newton, she resided with the Ami Guthrie family. ~ Newton Daily News January 18, 1979
