Mrs. Aillaud, 74, Dies Wednesday Life-Long Resident of Jasper County Dies After Long Illness

Mrs. C. W. Aillaud, 74, life long resident in Jasper county, died Thursday at 8:20 p.m. at the home of her son, William J. Aillaud, 422 East Forth street North.

Mrs. Aillaud had been in poor health since September and was taken seriously ill two weeks ago tomorrow.

Funeral services will be conducted from the Morgan funeral home Friday at 1 p.m. by Dr. Harry J. Findlay pastor of the First Presbyterian church. Interment will be in the Sugar Grove cemetery near Metz.

Born in Metz.

As Addie Maria Helphrey, Mrs. Aillaud was born June 21, 1863 on a farm near Metz, the daughter of Lewis and Anna Maria Helphrey.

She spent her girlhood in that community and continued to live the37re after her marriage Sept. 23, 1884, to Charles William Aillaud.

Golden Wedding.

She and her husband observed their golden wedding anniversary while they were living on the farm near Laurel.

Surviving relatives include her husband, C. W. Aillaud; two sons, William L. Aillaud of Newton, and Dr. H. C. Aillaud of Des Moines; two granddaughters, Dorothy and Lenore Aillaud of Newton; a sister, Mrs. Susie E. Houck of Des Moines and a brother Will Helphrey of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Ellen Helphrey and Melissa C. Ramsey, and two brothers, Lewis Helphrey and John B. Helphrey. ~ Newton Daily News, Newton, IA, December 2, 1937
