CONDUCT FUNERAL SERVICES SATURDAY FOR BLANCHE ADKINS

Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon from the Smith Funeral Home for Mrs. Blanche Young Adkins, 82, widow of William M. Adkins. She died Dec. 12 at a Newton hospital following a long illness.

Officiating at the services was the Rev. Morris Hay, pastor of the Hickory Grove United Brethren church. Vocal music was by Mrs. Noel Taylor and organ music was furnished by Mrs. Rhee Auman.

Pallbearers were Lawrence See, Howard Young, Gaylord Weaver, Dale Lester, Harry Crowder and Lawrence Sleeuwenhoek. Burial was in Hazelwood cemetery.

Survivors include two sons, two daughters, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral Services Pending Here for Mrs. Will Adkins

Mrs. Blanche Adkins, 82, of Grinnell, widow of "Will" Adkins, died Wednesday evening at a Newton hospital where she had been a patient the past nine days. She had been in failing health.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time. Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home.

She was born April 14, 1880, and later was united in marriage with William m. Adkins. To this union were born five children; Glen Adkins of Newton; Mrs. E. R. (Bernice) Biggs of Glendale, Calif.; Mrs. L. D. (Marcine) Bryan of Clear Lake; Earl Adkins of Ft. Worth, Tex.; and Gretchen Adkins, who died in February, 1918.

A longtime resident of the Grinnell area, she and her husband had farmed until retirement 15 years ago. Only a short time prior to her husband's death on August 15 of this year, they had observed their 50th wedding anniversary.
