Adams, 88 Dies Monday Morning
Came to Jasper County in a covered wagon In 1856(Special to The Daily News) RUSHVILLE.- Hugh Adams 88, died here Monday between 11 and 12 a.m. He had lived in the Rushville community all of his life
He was a member of the Newton Daily News Three-Quarter Century Club
Death was attributed to old age and heart trouble
FUNERAL WEDNESDAY
Funeral services will be held at the Rushville Church Wednesday at 2 P.M.
Mr. Adams was born April 2, 1849 at Gilmore, Ohio, and came to Jasper county in 1856.
He married Amy A. Parker of Newton. Jan 16,1889. Mrs. Adams died Jan 15, 1890, at the age of 21 years. On Sept 3,1891 he married Elizabeth Van Deventer of Kellogg
IN COVERED WAGON
He came to Jasper county in a covered wagon drawn by three-horse team in 1856, and lived in a log house for five or six years. He had lived on the same farm since coming to Iowa
Surviving are Mrs. Adams and three children, John W. Adams, Newton; Lloyd E. Adams, Kellogg, and Mrs. O.B. Stewart, Grinnell. ~ Daily News 7-6-1937.
