MINNIE ADAMS, 94, SERVICES MONDAY
Minnie Dorothy Adams, 94, of Newburg, the widow of William A. Adams, passed away Friday morning at Community Hospital following an illness suffered this past month. She was the daughter of Peter R. M. and Augusta M. Schwartz Voss and was born on a farm in Rock Creek Township, Jasper County, Iowa, on January 14, 1873.
She attended Rock Creek No. 4 rural school and the Kellogg public school. Following her graduation from the eighth grade she taught for two years in Rock Creek No. 5 and Hickory Grove No. 7 rural schools. On February 25, 1893, she was married to William A. Adams at Marshalltown. To this union were born two children, one of whom survives - Harry Adams of Newburg.
Mrs. Adams had lived on the farm home one and one half miles southwest of Newburg for 52 years until moving to Newburg with her son in 1944. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post # 640 at Newburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William in 1932, and one son in infancy. Also preceding her in death were her sister and brother, Mrs. Anna Latham and Henry Voss.
She is survived by her son Harry, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Minnie Adams were held at 2 p.m. this afternoon (Monday) at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Richard F. Hempenius officiating. Organist was Mrs. Donald J. Renaud, and vocalists were Mr. and Mrs. Virgil E. Palmer.
Pallbearers ilncluded Charles Carnahan, Delmar Howard, Kenneth Rutherford, Harry Rutherford, Donald Weaver and Doyle Weaver. Burial was in Mt. Pleasant cemetery, southwest of Newburg. She had often remarked that her long life was accomplished through being able to cope with situations as they arise, whether they were good or bad.
