John Rafferty of New Sharon was taken Wednesday of last week with quinsy or something like Membraneous croup. He ate a hearty dinner and walked down to town feeling exceptionally well. Sometime in the afternoon he returned home and remarked that he was not feeling well, and grew constantly worse until Friday morning about 7 o’clock when he passed away. He was about sixty-six years old. Funeral services were held in New Sharon Sunday at three o’clock and on Monday his remains were brought to Sully, where services were again held in the M. P. Church at 10:30 o’clock, and interment took place in the Swan Cemetery, two miles northwest of Lynnville by the side of his wife and daughter. – Lynnville Star. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, Saturday, January 20, 1906, Page 1, Column 5
