Mrs. Lawrence Denniston died this morning at 2 o’clock at the family residence, two miles east of this city. The little son born to Mr. and Mrs. Denniston last Friday died at birth, but the mother seemed to get along nicely until Sunday when there was a change and since then her condition had been considered critical. The funeral will be held from Mount Zion Church at 2 p.m. Friday. ~ The Newton Daily News, Wednesday, February 21, 1906, Page 1, Column 6

Mrs. Lawrence Denniston died Feb. 21, 1906, aged 45 years and 4 days. Her maiden name was Laura D. McIntire. She was born in Carroll County, Ohio, February 17, 1861. When she was eight years old her parents died and she went to make her home with Mr. and Mrs. Davis Casper of Carrolton, Ohio. In February 1882 she came with her foster parents to Iowa and settled on a farm near Galesburg in Jasper County. Two years later, January 10, she married Lawrence Denniston.She was the mother of six children, Charles, Hazel, Maude and Mabel, twins, Ralph, and the infant son who died a few days before the mother’s death occurred.
A foster sister, Mrs. H. H. Woodward of Des Moines was with her during her last illness.
Mrs. Denniston was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church at Mount Zion where the funeral was held. The interment was made in the cemetery near that church. ~ The Newton Daily News, Wednesday, February 28, 1906, Page 1, Column 3
