The remains of Samuel T. Bevan, whose death occurred at his late home nine miles north of Des Moines, arrived in this city today accompanied by his wife and her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Day. The funeral party and a number of friends of the family drove over to the Center Church near Amboy where, after short services, interment was made.

Mr. Bevan, until about six years ago was a resident of Jasper County, having lived here forty-five years and most of that time in Buena Vista Township. He is survived by his wife, two brothers and three sisters, Rev. David Bevan pastor of the M. E. Church at Moulton, Iowa, Stacy Bevan of Haveland, Kan., Mrs. Levi Roberts of Kellogg Township, Mrs. John Seaton of Vernon, Kansas, and Mrs. Ella Farguar, whose home is in Wisconsin. There is also an adopted daughter, Mrs. W. H. Bentley of this city.

Two weeks ago Mrs. Bentley went to the home near Des Moines to help care for her father and on Monday of this Mr. Bentley and children, Ella and Arthur, were called there by a message telling of his critical illness. Mr. Bevan passed away that evening at 7 o’clock.

Mrs. Bentley and children did not return today but will remain at the home during the absence of the mother. ~ The Newton Daily News, Thursday, January 25, 1906, Page 1, Column 4
