KROH, SNODGRASS, CARPENTER

Henry L. Kroh, whose death occurred after two months illness at his late home on East South Street, Saturday evening, December 2, 1905, was born November 17, 1832, at Dayton, Ohio, his age at the time of his death being 70 years, one month and seven days.

In 1856 Mr. Kroh came to Jasper County, Iowa, and settled on a farm near Galesburg. In 1864 he was married to Miss Harriette Snodgrass. To them where born four children, one daughter and three sons. The daughter, Mrs. L. B. Carpenter resides near Galesburg, Charles L. at Dallas Center, Frank in Buena Vista Township and Raleigh on a farm near Sigourney. They were all with him often during his illness and were in attendance at the funeral.

Mr. Kroh served in the Union Army being a member of Company I, Tenth Iowa. For more than forty years he had been a member of the Christian Church in this city, where the funeral services were held and were conducted by Rev. E. F. Leake. The member of Garrett Post, of which he had been a member, attended in a body. There were many beautiful flowers. Those acting as pallbearers were Messrs. George and John Hughes, Jonathan Edge, A. Dennis, Thomas Kennedy and Harry Phillips. The music was furnished by Mesdames Lambert Hall, Eli Kelley, E. F. Leake, Miss Maggie Helphrey and Messrs. E. C. Ogg, Richard and Claud Daly and Mrs. Clint Smith assisting at the organ.
