Betty Jean Krueger, age 93 of Prairie City, passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2017, at Prairie Vista Village in Altoona. Memorial services will be held on Monday, November 20, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colfax. Burial will take place at Canfield Cemetery in Ivy. The family will greet friends following the service at a luncheon at the church. Memorials may be directed to Prairie City Public Library and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com

The daughter of William James and Ruth (Rodrick) Free, Betty was born on July 3, 1924, in Des Moines. She graduated from East High School in 1942 and then graduated from Mercy Nursing School. On May 25, 1946, she was united in marriage to Jerry Packer Krueger in Seattle, Washington. She was a member at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colfax where she was active in the Altar & Rosary Society and the Catholic Daughters Court. She enjoyed gardening watching birds, reading and collecting teapots.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Jerry Dane (Rita) Krueger of Prairie City, Kurt (Cyd Donley) Krueger of Lake Havasu, Arizona, and Kirsten Marie (Dale Dawson) Williams of Fulton, Missouri; five grandchildren, Dana (Brad) Clark, Natalie (Eric) Owens, Daniel (Jennifer) Williams, Kevin (Gabbi) Krueger and Erin (Nicole) Krueger ; four great grandchildren, Dane, Ian, Alyssa and Will; her siblings, Rod (Mary Jane) Free of Ankeny, Patricia Free of Pleasant Hill, and Michael Free of Des Moines as well as several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Betty in death were her parents; step mother, Margaret Lysaght Free; husband in 1989; a son, Kristopher in 1962; two grandchildren, Alan Krueger and Andy Williams; two sisters, Rose Ann Kane and Eileen Reed and a daughter-in-law, Mary Engle Krueger. ~ The Coburn Funeral Home, Wed 15 Nov 2017.
