Gladys Ruth Thomas, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Thomas, was born in Colfax, May 27, 1910, and passed from this life at the Colfax Sanitarium Jan. 5, 1925 at the age of 14 years, 7 months and 9 days.
On December 27 she became ill with what was thought to be influenza. This however, proved to be acute appendicitis, which resulted in her death.
About two years ago Gladys confessed her faith in Jesus and became a member of the Methodist Church here, but later attended Sunday school at the Christian Church.
Besides other relatives and a host of friends, she leaves to miss her presence her father, mother, two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Kennedy of Colfax and Amelia at home and four brothers, William in Colorado, Gomer, David and James at home. One brother Philip preceded her in death.
Her death came as a shock to the community, since her illness was short and not thought to be serious until a few days before it proved fatal. She was well liked in the community, and was as a ray of sunshine to all who knew her.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon from the Christian church, Rev. V. H. Rogers officiating. Interment in Oak Hill cemetery.
