A. O. Buenz Dies Today At Home
Retired Newton Auto Dealer had Been Ill At Home for Some Time
A. O. Buenz, retired Newton car dealer and owner of the Buenz farm which has become a showplace south of Newton on Highway 14, died at his home during the noon hour today.
Mr. Buenz came to Newton in 1941 from Dumas, Texas, and bought the Ford motors agency which is now known as Art Lowe Inc. In 1945 he built the large one-story building which now houses the Bailey Implement Co. and Ardel Electric Co.
In 1948 Mr. Buenz bought a 40-acre farm about three miles south of Newton on Highway 14. He built a large, brick ranch-type house there overlooking the valley. The house is one of the outstanding ones in the county.
For the last two years the farm land on the Buenz farm was rented by the Newton chapter of the Future Farmers of America for the F.F.A. boys to carry out their agriculture experiments.
Mr. Buenz died of a lingering illness. Survivors include his widow; one son, Neal, and a daughter, Mrs. Ben Berg Jr.
Funeral services are pending. Morgan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Set A. O. Buenz Rites in Newton Tomorrow Morn
Funeral services for A. O. Buenz, 56, retired Newton auto dealer who died yesterday, will be held both in Newton and in Battle Creek, Iowa, his former home, tomorrow and Thursday.
Services will be held here tomorrow morning at 10:30 o’clock at Morgan Funeral Home with Rev. Lowell M. McConnell, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, officiating.
They will be held in Battle Creek on Thursday afternoon at two o’clock. Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery there.
Mr. Buenz died during the noon hour yesterday at his home south of Newton on Highway 14. He was in ill health for a considerable length of time.
He was born Albert Otto Buenz on Dec. 17, 1895, to William and Elizabeth Buenz in Crawford county. Mr. Buenz attended Crawford county schools and graduated from Iowa State College. On June 8, 1919, he was married to Cecil Neal at Battle Creek.
After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Buenz moved to Boise, Idaho, where he was district superintendent with an electric power firm. In 1924 they moved to Kansas City, Mo., where he was with the Kansas City Power and Light Co., and in 1930 they went to Phillips, Texas, where Mr. Buenz was mechanical superintendent at a petroleum refinery.
An electrical engineer, Mr. Buenz came to Newton with his family in 1941 from Dumas, Texas. He operated the Ford Motor agency here until his retirement.
A veteran of World War I, Mr. Buenz served in that conflict as an officer in the Navy. He was a member of the First Presbyterian church, the Masonic Lodge and the American Legion. He also was an honorary member of the F.F.A. chapter here by virtue of his interest in the work of the Future Farmers.
Survivors include his widow; two children, Mrs. Ben (Lois) Berg of Youngstown, Ohio, and Neal F. Buenz of Ankeny; two brothers, Henry of Ida Grove and Lester of Charter Oak, and four grandchildren.

Final Rites Held For A. O. Buenz In Newton Today
Final rites for A. O. Buenz, 56, were held this morning at Morgan Funeral Home. Mr. Buenz, retired Newton auto dealer, died Monday at his home.
In charge of the services was Rev. Lowell M. McConnell, pastor of the First Presbyterian church. Music was by Marion Welle, soloist, and Mrs. Lois Stanton, organist.
Pallbearers were Robert, Donald and Maurice Humke, B. C. Berg, John Diehl and Richard Tinkham.
Further funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at two o’clock in Battle Creek, Ia., former home of Mr. Buenz, and burial will be there.
