John Lawrence, Longtime County Resident Is Dead
Lynnville (Special) – Funeral services will be tomorrow afternoon for John W. Lawrence, 85, longtime Lynnville resident who died yesterday in Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines. He had been a patient at the hospital for several months.
Mr. Lawrence, the son of James and Matilda Lawrence, was born in Oskaloosa June 26, 1866. He was married to Berdie E. Burton in Lynnville, Sept. 15, 1887, and spent the rest of his life in that area.
Mr. Lawrence is survived by four children, Mrs. Neva Hartsock, Lynnville; Mrs. Etha Reynolds and Mrs. Nora Clayton, both of Des Moines; and O. W. Lawrence, Cedar Rapids. His wife and five children preceded him in death.
Also surviving are six grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Final rites will be tomorrow at two o’clock in the Friends church. Rev. Myrtle Lee of Searsboro will officiate and burial will be in the Salem cemetery.
Mr. Lawrence was a member of The Daily News Three-Quarter Century club.
