Mrs. W. Baarda Of Sully Dies, Rites Saturday
Sully (Special) – Mrs. William Baarda, 45, died early this morning on the same farm on which she was born. Death was due to a lingering illness.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at one o’clock at the home and at 1:30 at the First Reformed church in Sully with Mr. Paul Elliot of Applington officiating assisted by Rev. Charles Stoppell. Burial will be at Sully.
Mrs. Baarda was born on Dec. 8, 1906, to Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Elscott of Sully who survive. She was educated here and on Feb. 2, 1928, was married to William Baarda.
She lived in this vicinity all of her life except for eight months last year which were spent at the Oakdale Sanitarium. She was bedfast the last 15 years.
Survivors are her husband; one son, Pvt. Marvin Baarda who is stationed at Ft. Jackson, S.C.; her parents and four sisters, Mrs. Joe (Nola) Baarda of Newton, Mrs. Edward (Sylvia) Conn of Colfax, Mrs. Ralph (Violetta) Carlson and Mrs. Charley (Ruby) Myers of Des Moines. One son and one brother preceded her in death.
Pallbearers will be Carroll Castorf, Tunis Blom, Lawrence Van Bees, Andrew VerWort, Earl VandeKrol and Wilber Vander Kamp.
