Monroe, Feb. 9 – Special to The Daily News – Harry Shaw, son of Dr. W. H. and Flora Shaw was born in Monroe Nov. 1879. His early education was in the Monroe schools from which he graduated. He attended Cornell college at Mt. Vernon and completed his course in 1906. The following year he taught in Premption, Ill.
June 26, 1907 he was united in marriage to Miss Bessie Wheat of Mt. Vernon. They made their home in Des Moines, where he was employed by the Avery Implement Company. In 1917 they moved to Monroe where he managed the produce business while his brother Earl was serving in the army. Later he purchased an interest in the business and continued to live in Monroe until his death.
He was a member of the Methodist church and for many years served as superintendent of the Sunday School. He filled many responsible positions in the community, and was past Master of Fairview lodge, A.F. and A.M.
He is survived by his wife, three children, William, Robert and Eleanor, one sister, Mrs. G. H. Orcutt, two brothers, Mark of Kellogg and Earl who is in the Virginia Islands
Music was furnished by Mrs. R. B. Gloyd. The pallbearers, members of the Masonic fraternity, were Dr. L. D. Anderson, Joe D. Long, Ulrie Clevenger, Horace Cash, J. A. Murray and Laurel Buckley.
The flowers were in charge of Mrs. E. C. Mahon, Mrs. James Wolcott, Mrs. G. E. Van Howeling and Mrs. L. C. Fessler.
