Catherine E. Thomasson-McCoy, age 93 of Monroe, died Friday, October 19, 2012, at her home. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, October 23, 2012, at the First Baptist Church in Monroe. Burial followed at Silent City Cemetery.

The daughter of Roy J. and Lulu Louise (Ammer) Cooper, Catherine was born on March 15, 1919, in Monroe. Catherine was married to Lloyd Leslie Thomasson until his death in 1968 and then married Bennett McCoy. Catherine was a farm wife and also worked at Vernon Company for 18 years. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Monroe.
Survivors include her children; Marilyn (James) Terry of Cincinnati, Iowa, Kay (Melvin) Van Wyk of Des Moines, and Lloyd (Marcia) Thomasson of Newton; eight grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Hubert E. Cooper of Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Preceding her in death were her parents, both husbands, a granddaughter, Leslie Dawn Thomasson, a grandson, Michael Robert Menken; and two sisters, Wanda Ver Schuer and Wilma Stringer.
