Burmeister, Viola E. Beyer – 1931-2012

Viola E. Burmeister, 80, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2012, at Taylor House Hospice, following a courageous two-year battle with complications from ovarian cancer.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 1, 2012, with burial at Chapel Hill on Merle Hay Rd.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family or Evangelical Covenant Church.
Viola was born July 3, 1931, in Prairie City, IA, the daughter of Edward and Sarah Kinart Beyer. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1949. She married Charles F. Burmeister on August 5, 1950. They lived in Des Moines, where they raised their four children.
Viola is survived by a son, James (Nancy) of Waterloo, Iowa; a daughter, Julene (Robert) Glasgow of Dacula, Georgia; a daughter-in-law, Carol Burmeister of Indianola, Iowa; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She also is survived by her brothers, Harold (Wilma) Beyer, Harvey (Marlene) Beyer, both of Monroe, Iowa, and David Beyer of Otley, Iowa; a special adopted family, Eric and Rebekka Hoddenbagh; and five adopted great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1995; and her sons. Timothy in 1980 and Thomas in 2004.
