Funeral services for Mrs. Dan Munger, 78, R.F.D. 3, were conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Grace Chapel church with interment following in the Mount Zion cemetery. Rev. R. V. Pike was in charge.
Pallbearers were Ira Munger, Ray Munger, john Munger, Ernie Munger, Clark Munger and Percy Munger.
A quartet of Mrs. Louie Broderson, Mrs. Louie Vander Pol, Ivan Broderson and James Van Baron, accompanied by Helen Stover, pianist, sang “The Old Rugged Cross,” “City Foursquare” and “Going Down the Valley One by One”.
Zaidee T. Forker, daughter of Jerimoy and Bellison Forker was born March 21, 1861, in Mahaska county, Ia., and died at the Skiff Memorial hospital in Newton, November 16, 1939, at the age of 78 years, 7 months and 20 days.
She was united in marriage to Daniel Alvin Munger on March 17, 1881, and to this union were born eleven children.
Surviving are her husband, eight children: Ray and Ira of Monroe, Mrs. Gertie Gearhart of Adel, Mrs. Bertha Buchholz of Monroe, Mrs. James Gardner and Ernie of Newton, Mrs. Daisy Finch of Kellogg and John of Grinnell; one sister, Mrs. John Harvey of Perry, Ia., also 24 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were three children, Orla, who died in infancy, Harry at the age of eight years and Frank in April 1938.
Mrs. Munger had lived in Jasper county, Buena Vista township for the past 45 years. She was a member of the Methodist church, Buena Vista grange and the Three Quarter Century club of the Newton Daily News and Jasper County Record.
Those attending the services from out of town were: Mrs. J. D. Harvey of Perry, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gearhart, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Gearhart, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Skinner of Adel, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Glen Powers of Carlisle, Ia.; Clark Munger, Freda Munger, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Frankford and Mr. and Mrs. Delman Spain all of Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Bruch of Fenton, Ia.
