Jesse T. Tripp Died in West Last Week
Most of Early Life Spent in Colfax and Jasper County
Word was received here Thursday by Mrs. Eleanor Cox, telling of the sudden death of her brother, Jesse T. Tripp, at San Pedro, California, who passed away Wednesday, Dec. 14, 1932, following a heart attack.
Mr. Tripp was born in northern Jasper County on a farm, the son of Garner M. and Arminda Tripp, late of Colfax. Most of his early life and his school days were spent in Colfax. He was a graduate of the local high school and at one time taught in the public schools here. He was a member of the Christian church and prominent in church and social work.
He married Annette Stillings and to this union one child, Marquis Tripp, was born. The wife and mother died soon after the birth of the son.
Several years later he married Dorcia Emery, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Emery of Newton. Shortly after their marriage, the family moved to Bennett, Colo., to make their home, and where Mr. Tripp spent many years and was a leader in all that went for the improvement of his chosen city.
At the time of his death he was living in San Pedro, Calif., and was connected with the Scarbrough Lumber Co. He leaves his wife, son John and daughter Margaret of Colorado, and son Marquis of Aurora, Ill. One son, Phillip, died at the age of two years. Four sisters and three brothers, Eleanor Cox of Colfax; Mrs. H. J. McMurray of Newton, Mrs. Leo Raupert, Lacrosse, Wis., Miss Grace Tripp, Lacrosse, Wis.; Dick Tripp of Newton; Milo Tripp of Windsor, Colo., Arie Tripp, Bennet, Colo., also mourn his passing. D. R. Tripp of Colfax is an uncle of the deceased.
Mr. Tripp was known as a kind and loving husband, devoted to his family and a true friend to his many friends.
Burial was had in California.
