Services Held
Mrs. John J. (Sarah) Stravers, 92 of Pella, died Monday, April 9, 1984 at the Pella Community Nursing Home.
Funeral services were held at the Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella.
The Rev. Dick Stravers, a son, of Cleveland, Ohio conducted services. The Rev. John R. Siettema, pastor of the First Christian Reformed Church of Pella conducted graveside rites at the Oakwood Cemetery in Pella.
Also surviving are four other sons, Gilbert of Reasnor, Anthony “Tony” of Pella, Joe of Williamston, Mich., and Gerald “Jerry” of Pella; a daughter, Mrs. James (Janice) Monsma of Boston, Mass.; 20 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
The daughter of Antonie and Gerdena Dahm Vos, she was born Sept. 5, 1891 in The Netherlands. She came to the United States with her parents at the age of three. They settled near Pella and later moved to Jasper County and resided in both the Killduff and Sully Areas.
She was married to John J. Stravers March 6, 1916 in Galesburg. They farmed south of Galesburg until 1959 when they retired and moved to Pella.
