Gary Tiedje Newton Resident Killed in Alaska
Gary Tiedje, 27, of Anchorage, Alaska, a former resident of Newton, died in an airplane crash Saturday in Kenoi, Alaska.
Also killed in the crash was his father-in-law, Lyle Newby, also of Anchorage.
Funeral services and burial were held in Anchorage.
Survivors are his wife; two sons, Timothy, 5, and Scott, 3, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Tiedje, and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Dora Tiedje, all of Newton; and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Huntrod of Colfax. He was a nephew of Mrs. Lloyd Henderson, Mrs. John Weirick and Mrs. Carolyn Mudick of this city and Mrs. Gene Mallory of New Jersey.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Tiedje, he was born Dec. 23, 1940, in Newton and was educated in Newton schools, graduating in 1959.
He was married to Carole Newby, July 22, 1961, in Anchorage.
