Father Dies
John Van Dusseldorp, 83, longtime resident of the Prairie City area, was found dead at his home in that city Saturday, April 25th.
Mr. Van Dusseldorp was born May 8, 1975 in the Netherlands and came to the United States with his parents at the age of four. He was united in marriage to Anna Jan Hewitt in 1904 and farmed northwest of Prairie City until the death of his wife in 1940. Since that time he moved to Prairie City.
Survivors include five sons, Eben and Keith of this city, Raymond of Mitchellville, Peter of Altoona and Leon of Crown Point, Ind. A daughter, Angie Hale of Colfax, a sister, Mrs. Addie Newell of Newton and three brothers, Jake, Engle and Neal, all of Britt, Ia., also survive.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at Prairie City with Rev. Mark Sullivan, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating.
Burial was in Westview cemetery.
