Viola Armstrong Dies Sunday; Rites Wednesday
Mrs. Tunis (Viola I.) Armstrong, 50, of 734 W. 4th St. N., a resident of Newton for 25 years died Sunday afternoon at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home.
The Rev. William C. Hamilton, pastor of the First Assembly of God Church, assisted by the Rev. Eugene Kelsey, of the church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Tuesday.
Survivors are her husband; a son, Franklin Chapman of Newton; a daughter, Mrs. Ed (Barbara) Socor of St. Paul, Minn.; two grandchildren and two brothers, William J. (Dutch) Farrow of Newton and Lloyd Farrow of Oakland, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents and five sisters, including Mrs. Herman (Harriet) Masters.
Mrs. Armstrong was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Women of the Moose and the Pocahontas Lodge.
The daughter of Edward W. and Cora Mae Smith Farrow, she was born May 26, 1923 at Bucknell.
She was married Mar. 4, 1945 in Montezuma.
