Henry Herzog, Former Baxter Resident, Dies
Baxter – Funeral services for Henry Herzog, 77, of Eldora, a former resident of Baxter, were held Monday at Bethany United Church of Christ, east of Baxter.
The Rev. Harold Behle, pastor of the church and the Rev. Dale Krampe conducted services. Burial was in the Bethany Cemetery.
Boyd-Nickell Funeral Home in Baxter handled arrangements.
Survivors are two sisters, Mrs. George (Lydia) Allspach of Baxter and Mrs. Paul (Ella) Klemme of Mason City; and two brothers, Walter Herzog of Seal Beach, Calif., and Theodore Herzog of Baxter.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1974, parents, a daughter in infancy, a sister and three brothers.
Mr. Herzog, who owned the Singer Sewing Center in Marshalltown for many years, had previously been employed by the Singer Co.
The son of Simon and Wilhilmie Krueger Herzog, he was born Sept. 3, 1898 at Hubbard. He was educated in Ledyard and Baxter and attended Marshalltown Business College.
He was married to Wilma Winch Dec. 31, 1930 at Dubuque.
Mr. Herzog, who also had resided in Arnolds Park, had been staying at the home of his sister in Mason City. He died Friday at a Marshalltown hospital.
