A. C. Deakins Dies Today; Rites Thursday
Colfax-Mingo - A. C. Deakins, 80, of Colfax, a resident of Mingo and Colfax since coming to Jasper County in the 1920s, died Monday morning at the Jasper County Care Facility.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home.
The Rev. Robert Cook, pastor of the Colfax First Presbyterian Church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in the Graham Cemetery at Mingo.
Friends may call at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home after 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Survivors are his son and daughter-in-law, George and Lorena Deakins of Colfax; and three grandchildren, Dennis Deakins of Rapid City, S.D., and Denise and Donald Deakins, both of Colfax.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Stella in 1953, and two brothers.
Mr. Deakins, a veteran of World War I, is a retired employe of the Great Western Railroad and the Monroe Co. in Colfax.
The son of George and Catherine Deakins, he was born May 25, 1894 in California, Mo.
He was married to Stella Salmon in 1925 in Mingo.
