Frank Neal, 76, Dies at Hospital; Rites Are Pending
Frank Neal, 76, longtime Jasper county resident, died at Skiff Memorial hospital at 9:48 a.m. today after being a patient there five days with heart disease.
Mr. Neal was born to John and Jane Neal in England Sept. 25, 1878 and came to the United States when he was 18 months old. They lived in Davenport until his mother died when he was three years old. At that time he was brought to Jasper county where he was raised by Henry and Rebecca Walker who lived just south of Newton.
In early life he was a barber in Newton, but moved to Canada where he homesteaded in 1907. He came back to Newton in 1910 following the death of his first wife, the former Clara Cunningham. They were married in 1900 at Newton.
After his return to Newton, Mr. Neal worked at the Maytag company 17 years and later he farmed, trucked, and was in the grocery business in Newton.
He married his present wife, the former Gail Miller in 1914 at St. Joseph, Mo. In recent years they in the Neal Nursing home in Newton.
Survivors are his wife, Gail; three sons, Francis A. Neal, Bay City, Ore., Jesse E. Neal, The Dalles, Ore., and Jack A. Neal, Newton; one step-son, Harold B. _undy, Bay City, Ore.; five daughters, Mrs. Lloyd (Aubrey) Greenland, Des Moines, Mrs. Don (Doris) Harbour, Goshen, Ind., Mrs. Glen (Dorothy) Beason and Mrs. Lee (Betty) Thompson, both of Newton, and Mrs. Frank (Winifred) Sisco, Goshen, Ind.; 31 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.

Neal Services to Be Held Tuesday
Funeral services for Frank Neal, 76, lifetime resident of Jasper county who died Saturday, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Toland funeral home.
The Rev. James Keiller, pastor of the Full Gospel church, will officiate at the services and burial will be in Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Phillip Jeanette, Richard Jeanette, John Stinson, Robert Norton, Kenneth Hoffmaster and Edward Pierce with Burt Snook and Glen Britton, honorary pallbearers.
Mrs. John Frith and Miss Hazel Parker will have charge of flowers.
Marion Welle, soloist, will be accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Paul Murdy.
