Malaka, March 9 – Funeral services for Friedrich Wehrman were held from the St. John’s Evangelical church at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon with Rev. Blancke of Newton officiating. Music was furnished by Mrs. Thomas Helming and Mrs. Robson who sang in the home, “Saved by Grace” and by Richard Toedt at the church who sang, “Sweet By and By,” “In The City Four Square,” and “Nearer My God to Thee.”
Pallbearers were six nephews, Oscar Wehrman, Arthur Wehrman, August Wehrman, Clifford Wehrman, Hugo Wehrman and R. A. Enochs. Flowers were in charge of Mrs. J. H. Boyd, Mrs. George Loupee, Miss Christina Schaffer and Miss Helen Stock.
Friedrich Wehrman, son of Henry and Matilda Wehrman was born Oct. 26, 1863 in this vicinity and died at his home in Baxter Monday, March 2, 1931, at the age of 68 years. On April 14, 1878 he was confirmed by Rev. O. Krans in the St. John’s Evangelical church of which he was a faithful member until the time of his death. He was married April 15, 1902 to Miss Hermina Saak who preceded him in death on March 31, 1904. To this union one daughter was born, Miss Sadie Wehrman of Baxter, Ia. He is survived by his daughter, Miss Sadie Wehrman of Baxter, two sisters, Miss Minnie Wehrman of Baxter, Mrs. Chris. Bergman of Newton and five brothers, George and Henry of Baxter, Ia., William Wehrman of Haverhill, Ia., and Chris and Ed Wehrman of Newton, Ia.
