Hugh Parker Died Monday At Newton
Hugh James Parker, 77, of the Colfax-Mingo rural area, died Monday afternoon, June 2, 1969, at Skiff Memorial Hospital.
The son of Edward and Elizabeth Rippey Parker, he was born Sept. 7, 1891, in Jasper County and was educated in Jasper County Schools.
Mr. Parker was a lifelong resident of Jasper County. He and Mrs. Parker lived in Colfax for a time.
He was married to Ethel Emmack on Oct. 4, 1916, at the home of the bride in Newton.
Surviving are his widow, Ethel; a son, Robert Parker of Colfax; six grandchildren; a brother, Roy Parker of Newton, and two sisters, Mrs. Gwendolyn Thode of Des Moines and Mrs. Gladys Skinner of Nevada.
He was preceded in death by a son, a brother, and a sister.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday (today) at Loehr Funeral Chapel in Newton.
The Rev. Laurence Garrett, minister of the United Methodist Church of Colfax, will officiate.
Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.
