A. Schermerhorn, former Newton resident dies
San Jose, Calif. – Funeral services for A. J. “Jiggs” Schermerhorn, 63, of San Jose, Calif., a former Newton resident, were held Monday.
Survivors are his wife, Maxine; two sons, Ronnie and Terry, both of San Jose, Calif.; two daughters, Sharon Rondean of Fall Creek, Ore., and Debbie Spencer of San Jose, Calif.; a number of grandchildren; and two sisters, Violet Sheehan of Newton and Florence Gregg of Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Myrtle Schermerhorn.
Mr. Schermerhorn, who was self-employed, attended the Baptist church. He was a member of the Moose Lodge.
