Mrs. Maggie A. Jenkins, the daughter of Mr. Robert Davidson, was born in Lawrence Co., Pennsylvania, Oct. 3, 1862. She came to this county in 1865 and has lived in the vicinity of Newton since that time. On the 28th of December 1886, she was married to Mr. Daniel Jenkins. She died at their home near the Brick school house, south of Newton, on the Sabbath morning, February 24th, after a short life of a little over 32 years in which she has known a great deal of sickness and suffering. She leaves three little girls without a mother’s tender love and care – one of these is an infant of only a few days.
Mrs. Jenkins was a tenderly cherished daughter, a kindly friend and neighbor and a most faithful and affectionate wife and mother. The funeral services were held at the Wildcat Presbyterian Church on Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock. A very large congregation of relatives and friends gathered together to pay to her the last tributes of love. The sermon was preached by Rev. Rice from the text found in Job 20-23: “For I know that Thou will bring me to death.”
