Life Story of Rose Heffelfinger
Rose M., daughter of Jacob and Amy Scott Den Hoedt, was born in Otley on April 23, 1900, and departed this life in the DeKalb hospital in Fort Payne, Alabama on November 1, 1957.
She was united in marriage with Howard A. Heffelfinger on August 18, 1921, in the parental home. This union was broken on September 9, 1936, by the death of her husband.
Rose was a member of the First Baptist church of Monroe and Fairview Chapter Order of the Eastern Star.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Hester Muilenburg and a brother Clarence who died in childhood.
She is survived by three brothers, Arie of Knoxville, Dorsey of Montezuma and Russell of Fort Payne, Alabama, and three sisters, Lucy Johnson of Searsboro, Blanche Krause of Newton and Martha Fae Henley of Ontario, Calif. Also nine nieces and nephews and eleven great nieces and nephews.
With the exception of the past six years which were spent in Alabama, her life was lived in the Monroe area.
By her relatives and friends Rose will be remembered for her genial disposition, her deeds of kindness and her patience in suffering.
Last rites were held for Mrs. Heffelfinger in the Baptist church Tuesday afternoon, November 5. In the absence of the pastor, Rev. A. D. Mohr of Ankeny, a former pastor, was in charge of the services. Music was furnished by Mrs. Abram Kool at the organ and Dean Kool as soloist. Burial was in Our Silent City.
The pallbearers were Guy Wilson, Robert Tice, Leo Sweeney, Abram Kool, W. D. Honnold and Devayne Honnold.
