Mrs. Anna America Goodrich, who had been sick for some time, died Saturday morning and was buried Tuesday afternoon; services being conducted by Rev. Miles at the home. Mrs. Goodrich had lived in Colfax over 25 years, and hosts of friends mourn her death. She was born at Cumberland, Md., July 9, 1847. At the age of 16 she came to Iowa City and there was married to Mr. Geo. A. Goodrich in 1866. They lived in Newton a few years and moved to Colfax in 1884. Mr. Goodrich was manager of the mines until his death about nine years ago. To this marriage was born three children, Mrs. R. B. Zachary, Mrs. F. A. Porterfield and Mr. Seymour T. Goodrich. Mrs. Goodrich was a leader in social circles. She organized the local P.E.O. and for 5 years was its president. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, Rathbone Sisters, Woman’s club and in the Presbyterian church was one of the most active and efficient members.
