French, Susie – 1893-1925

Mrs. Susie French was born August 13, 1893 at Mingo, Iowa and died, February 27th, 1925 at Valeria, Iowa, aged 31 years, 4 months and 13 days. She was married to Samuel French Nov. 18, 1920. She leaves to mourn her loss Samuel French, her husband of Des Moines, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Borts of Valeria, four sisters, Mrs. Ruth McCloud of Des Moines, Mrs. Kitty Ketring of Milwaukee, Wis., Miss Zilpha Borts of Havana, Cuba and Miss Delsie Borts of Valeria; four brothers, George of Casper, Wyoming, Everett of Des Moines, Alva of Hong Kong, China and Dewey of Valeria. Also two half-sisters, Mrs. Eleanor Doelther of Des Moines and Mrs. Florence Gibson of Montana and one half brother, Fred Borts of Mingo.
She was reared and spent her childhood in and around Mingo. She was well thought of by all who knew her and was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. She worked for years in the Central office at Mingo, going to Des Moines from there and lived until about one year ago. She lost her eye sight about two years ago and was a great sufferer until the time of her death.
She united with the M.E. church at Mingo Feb. 16, 1913, during the pastorate of Rev. Grigsby. Funeral services were held Sunday at one o’clock at the M.E. church in Valeria and interment at the Sams cemetery.

Mrs. Kitty Ketring of Milwaukee, Wis., came Sunday evening to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Borts. She arrived too late to attend the funeral of her sister, Mrs. French.
