At the age of 83 years, 5 months, and 26 days she died at her home in Monroe, Ia., Sunday morning May 9. Her husband died in January 1931.
With the exception of one year which they spent in the Dakotas, their entire married life was in and near Monroe.

There are also three sisters and one brother who survive Mrs. Dawson. They are Mrs. Frank Garnent of Monroe, Mrs. Ella Simpson of Reasnor, Mrs. Leota Strak of Kingsley, and John Edwards of Indianola. They and ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren survive.
Mrs. Dawson had the distinction of being numbered with those who knew the toils, trials and sacrifices of pioneer life in Iowa.
While living in the Tool’s Chapel neighborhood, Mrs. Dawson joined the Methodist Episcopal church of that place.
