Found Dead – Arthur, brother of Willis Dingman, of the Newton Courtier, missed his way while driving west from Newton last Monday night; his team tumbled off of a culvert east of the Kennedy place. Dingman fell to the bottom of the ditch four feet below along with his team and wagon and when found the following morning he was quite dead. He lay with his body under the bed of the wagon, and only his face and one arm were visible. Death resulted from strangulation and concussion sustained by his fall. Deceased resided in Des Moines, but the police of that city experienced great difficulty in locating his wife. His effects, which consisted of a shot gun and ammunition, some carpenter tools, an old light spring wagon and team (consisting of a pony and a mule) and some other articles will be sold. Some photographs found in his pocket assisted in establishing his identity. The coroner’s jury returned a verdict of accidental death in accordance with above detailed conditions, and the remains were interred at Newton. – Gleaned from Newton Journal.
