James Bailey Dies Yesterday Evening at Home Near Mingo
James Bailey died last evening at 6 o’clock at his home four miles west of Mingo, after an illness for the last two months from dropsy.
Funeral arrangements have not been completed but the services are expected to be held some time Monday.
Mr. Bailey was 85 years of age. He came to Jasper county from Indiana as one of the early settlers.
He is survived by his widow and nine children, three sons, George of Colfax, Jesse of Mitchellville and Marion of Mingo, and six daughters, Mrs. Lucy Chaffin of St. Clair, Minn., Mrs. Myra Smay of Lowery City, Mo., Mrs. Mary Akins of Mingo, Miss Elvada, at home, Mrs. Hattie Rambo of Maxwell, Ia., and Miss Laura, who teaches in the Tama high school.
