Claud De Reus Dies Tuesday July 8th
Claud De Reus, 85, of Valeria died Wednesday, July 8, at the Skiff Hospital in Newton.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 11, 10:00 a.m. at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax. Burial will be in McKeever Cemetery.
Survivors are his wife, Carrie; one daughter, Mrs. Clifford (Beulah) Gerhart of Mingo, Iowa; five grandchildren, Charles Gerhart of Mingo, Mrs. Helen Dodd of Des Moines, Kenneth Gerhart of Nairobi, Kenya, Africa, James Gerhart of Arvada, Colorado, and Mrs. Delores Robinett of Mitchellville; twelve great grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Ella Ruggless of Prairie City and Mrs. Gladys Riley of Minneapolis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son; three brothers, Carl, Ray and Roy; and two sisters, India and Edna and two great grandchildren, Brian Dean Robinett and Danelle Gerhart.
The son of Peter and Ella Poulsen De Reus, he was born November 28, 1889 northeast of Colfax.
He was united in marriage to Caroline (Carrie) Elizabeth Emery December 17, 1913.
They first farmed northeast of Colfax and later moved to Valeria where he was in the draying business and was a janitor at the Valeria School.
They lived at Valeria 57 years before he entered Embassy Manor in Newton.

Claud DeReus, oldest son of Peter and Ella Poulsen DeReus was born November 28, 1889 northeast of Colfax, Iowa. He entered into rest July 8, 1975 at the Skiff Memorial Hospital at Newton, Iowa at the age of 85 years. On December 17, 1913, he was united in marriage to Caroline (Carrie) Elizabeth Emery at Valeria, Iowa. They first farmed northeast of Colfax, Iowa. Then, they moved into Valeria, Iowa where he was in the draying business and was janitor at the Valeria School. They lived at Valeria 57 years before he entered Embassy Manor at Newton. He is survived by his wife, Carrie; one daughter, Mrs. Clifford Gearhart (Beulah) of Mingo, Iowa; five grandchildren, Charles Gerhart of Mingo, Iowa; Mrs. Helen Dodd of Des Moines, Iowa; Kenneth Gerhart of Nairobi, Kenya, Africa; James Gerhart of Arvada, Colorado and Mrs. Delores Robinett of Mitchellville, Iowa; 12 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Ella Ruggless of Prairie City, Iowa and Mrs. Gladys Riley of Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by one son, Dwight; his parents; three brothers, Carl, Ray and Roy (twins); two sisters, India and Edna and two great grand children, Brian Dean Robinett and Danelle Gerhart. Interment: McKeever Cemetery, Colfax, Iowa. Services at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home July 11, 1975, 10 a.m.
