Life Story of David H. Krampe
David H. Krampe was born July 9, 1901, to August and Louisa Kanne Krampe on a farm two miles east of Baxter, where he lived until 1976. His grandson now lives in the farm house. From there, Mr. Krampe moved to the Harrison Apartments for one year and then to Colonial Manor in January of 1977.
He received his education at the Malaka #4 School, known as the Kanne School. He has a brother, Albert, whom he farmed with until his retirement in 1968. They also have a sister, Mrs. Walter (Esther) Herzog of Seal Beach, California.
On January 14, 1925, he married Laura Herzog. They had two children: Dale, a minister of the U.C.C. in Scotland, South Dakota; and Beth (Mrs. Bud) Allan, who lives on a farm north of Baxter. There are also eight grandchildren and one foster grandchild, Carl Anthony Chas. Krampe. The other grandchildren are Lisa, Paul and Sara Krampe; Dan, Duane, Scott, Deanne and Denise Allan.
Dave has lived alone since June of 1959, when his wife passed away. He is well known in this community and is a member of the Bethany U.C.C., where he served many years on the church board.
He was also a trustee of the rural fire department for a few years. He sold Pioneer Seed Corn for ten years.
He loved to visit and be around people, so he is very content in his new home at the Baxter Colonial Manor.
